Marketing Week and Marketing Career Connect 2025

This week, UMD AMA celebrated Marketing Week, a week of professional growth that culminated in our annual Marketing Career Connect (MCC), our fall Signature Event focused on recruiting, networking, and professional development.

Build Your fAMAly Crest

We kicked off the week with our mentorship program event, Build Your fAMAly Crest, guided by AMA’s own VP of Design, Izzy Rouyer. Members worked within their mentorship “fAMAlies” to design unique crests that represented their team identity. What a fun event to build community and strengthen bonds!

Sherwin-Williams Case Competition Launch

Tuesday marked the start of our Sherwin-Williams Case Competition. In this challenge, participants stepped into the role of a Commercial Sales Representative for Shermin-Williams, one of the world’s leading paint and coating companies. Teams were tasked with pitching their best Shermin-William’s solution to John-Moore Commercial Painting (JMCP) in a 6-8 min presentation. The goal being to address JMCP’s needs for an upcoming renovation of the Washington Commander's Northwest Stadium and justify Shermin-Williams as the best strategic partner.

Career Fair Jeopardy

To prepare for MCC, members joined us for Career Fair Jeopardy, an interactive meeting designed to teach students how to research companies, craft questions, and stand out when networking. Through a fun and competitive Jeopardy-style game, participants learned how to turn their career fair prep into a winning strategy.

Career Fair Survival

On Thursday, members attended our Career Fair Survival workshop, where we broke down everything from elevator pitches and mock interview questions to professional networking tips. This session gave students the practical tools they needed to approach employers with professionalism and confidence at MCC!

Marketing Career Connect (MCC)

We wrapped up the week with our signature event: Marketing Career Connect!

Students showcased their hard work during the Sherwin-Williams Case Competition presentations, which featured insightful and innovative pitches judged by a representative from Sherwin-Williams. Attendees at the event had the opportunity to network with top employers including Central Atlantic Toyota Regional Office, Stanley Martin Homes, LLC, The Sherwin-Williams Company, and Property Shield AI. In addition, students enjoyed resume reviews and networking with PwC, professional headshots, interactive activities like Bingo, and refreshments provided by Celsius!

A huge thank you to all our partners, participating companies, and AMA members who made this week such a success!
