Spring Kickoff 2024

AMA is back! We are so excited to see everyone after winter break and meet our new members! The kick-off is jam-packed with information about the upcoming semester and all the exciting events and opportunities AMA has to offer!

Our President, Ananya, starts the meeting off by sharing AMA’s missions and values as a chapter and national organization. AMA has three pillars that are the core of what we do. The three pillars are education, professional, and social. Ananya also shares AMA’s commitment to DEI as it is the foundation for creativity in all spaces, especially in marketing.

“Our mission is to enhance our members' educational, professional, and social experience through personal brand development and industry exposure”

Ananya goes on to explain how being a member of UMD AMA is not just being a member of our award-winning collegiate chapter, but being a member of a national organization with 11,000+ student members and 30,000+ professional members. AMA can lead to so many wonderful opportunities.

Now that we know a little bit about the organization, the executive board members introduce themselves and tell us their major and where they are from.

Anjali Sharma, the Executive Vice President tells the new members about the mentorship program. This program is an incredible way to connect with a mentor within AMA.

Do you want experience consulting for a real company? Well, we’ve got you covered with RedBlack Consulting, a consulting group within UMD AMA! Members who apply will be put into groups and assigned a company. Groups then have 8 weeks to complete a marketing project that fits the company's needs. RedBlack members have access to exclusive training workshops and meetings to sharpen their skills and provide the best results for their company!

After discussing the Mentorship program and RedBlack, our executive board members share the director positions they are looking to fill! The open positions include Director of Events, Blog Director, and Director of Website Development.

For those who are excited to become members, the Co-VPs of Membership Operations, Isabella Guggino and Anika Deshmukh have released the General Application! This is the one-stop shop to apply to become a general body member and apply for the Mentorship program, RedBlack, or any open director positions. The form is due Sunday, February 13 at 11:59 PM.

The final step to becoming a member is paying dues. There are national and local dues. The national dues give members access to AMA National resources. National dues are $29 for the full calendar year and are valid for two semesters, they can be paid here. Local dues are $6 and help us fund prizes and food for some of our events! Local dues can be paid by Venmo @AMAUMD. If you cannot pay dues, please contact our VP of Finance, Matthew at umdama.finance@gmail.com.
