This past week, the University of Maryland (UMD) Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) had the honor of hosting guest speakers Matthew Merritt and Natalie Chevalier from Ogilvy. Ogilvy is an advertising, marketing, and public relations industry that is centrally headquartered in New York City, NY with offices all across the country.
Merritt is a recent graduate from Virginia Tech who works for Ogilvy as a junior strategist. Chevalier recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin this past year and currently works as an associate in the Washington D.C. office. Since the Washington D.C. office is the current hub for government practices, Ogilvy works closely with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the PEW Research Center, the Peace Corps, and many other government agencies. Ogilvy also works with major name brands including Coca-Cola, Nestle, Boeing, IBM, The Washington Post, and the list goes on.
Ogilvy works across multiple branches of the industry including client services, research & strategy, production, creative, public relations, measurement & analytics, and paid media. The team works collaboratively to build and maintain client relationships, shape campaigns with insight and data, develop structured budgets and timelines for projects, create compelling visuals and ideas, manage client reputations, showcase campaign assets to a broader audience, and measure the effectiveness of campaigns.
If you are interested in learning more about professional opportunities with Ogilvy, they are actively working on expanding both their internship and associate programs. Merritt and Chevalier can attest to Ogilvy’s culture of transparency and inclusivity, the agency is very team-oriented and offers a tremendous amount of professional networking opportunities. The application for the internship becomes available in the month of December and the application for the associate program opens in the month of November.
